Martin Hannett was an English record producer and music arranger, known for his work with influential post-punk and new wave bands such as Joy Division, New Order, and Magazine. He was credited with creating Manchester's distinctive and atmospheric sound during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Hannett died in 1991 at the age of 42.
